5 Stars Garmin 3.5-Inch screen GPS
my wife has one and its great. simple and easy to use. perfect size. not big or small. so i recommended my friend to get one for his wife as a gift. i placed the order for him. i received the package early from the shipper. no complaints. good deal with the 2 added accessories from the shipper.

5 Stars No more driving in circles
This item was shipped and delivered much faster than estimated. Works great, very user friendly!!

4 Stars Garmin nuvi 200 GPS systems
I am very happy with this product. I have named “her” GYPSY because she’s such a great traveler. Sometimes her voice is annoying but otherwise I have no complaints! I don’t hesitate to go to new places now. Great little invention!

5 Stars Superb devise for Sales
If you are in sales and it involves driving, this is awesome. If you are still using online mapping, you will find this insanely more efficient. I have used it for over 6 months, and 99.5% of the time it is exact; the other .5% it gets me close where I can figure it out. Saves me tons of time and fuel!

5 Stars Great GPS for the $$$
I purchased the Garmin NUVI 200 for about $125.

This is a great GPS for the money. Does what it is supposed to do and does it very well. Not sure what bells and whistles this unit doesn’t have but gives me great directions.

I would recommend GARMIN over all others based on my experience.

Garmin StreetPilot 7200 7 Inch Portable GPS Navigator

January 6, 2009 by car gps guide · Comment

Garmin StreetPilot 7200 7 Inch Portable GPS Navigator

The StreetPilot 7200’s huge 7-inch touch-screen display means you’ll always see where you’re going, from anywhere in the vehicle. Designed for larger vehicles such as RVs, semi-trucks, and buses, it is a premium automotive unit that comes preloaded with City Navigator NT detailed maps of North America. With the purchase of an optional sensor (not included), the unit notifies the driver of accidents, road construction and weather-related traffic delays before they are encountered (requires subscription, traffic service only for select cities where coverage exists). Either of two optional purchase sensors can provide these features, the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic sensor or the GXM 30 Smart Antenna (separate purchase required). In addition to traffic data, the GXM 30 provides real-time satellite weather information. The 7200 model features all of Garmin’s well-known GPS functions, including intuitive navigation and automatic route calculation; voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions; 2D or 3D map view; and automatic rerouting if a motorist strays off course. With its POI Loader software, users can load custom points-of-interest such as school zones or safety cameras. The StreetPilot 7200 also includes entertainment options, including an internal MP3 player, XM radio, and playback of audio books. The built-in MP3 player lets users browse music by artist, album, song, or genre. The XM Radio (with the optional GXM 30 Smart Antenna and XM Satellite Radio subscription - not included) features 150-plus channels of commercial-free entertainment. The StreetPilot 7200 is also compatible with www.audible.com, a subscription-based audio book service. The face of the StreetPilot 7200 only has one button, an on/off switch. Using simplicity to manage complexity is a hallmark of the quality from Garmin, the premier maker of GPS products.

5 Stars Garmin 7200
I have owned many GPS’es over the last 15 years or so. I have used the Garmin 7200 every day for two years now. It is absolutly exceptional. No complaints of any kind.

And the screen is actually large enough to see and to be able to read it.

At the price these are selling for now they are an absolute steal. I would recommend buying one now while they are still available. I just ordered a second Garmin 7200 just to keep as a spare for when this one finally does die.

3 Stars CLAIMS
THIS WORKS AS WELL AS ANY OTHER GPS BUT DOES NOT KEEP YOU OFF PARKWAYS AS ADVERTISED FOR BIG TRUCKS ,BUSES OR RV’S AS PARKWAYS HAVE LOW BRIDGES.

5 Stars BEST GARMIN GPS EVER
The screen was very large which was EXCATLY what I was looking for. I have used Garmin alot in the pass but I don’t like how small most of the screens are on the newer models. I bought this one just because of the screen size and was very happy to see I wasnt sorry. I would strongly recommend this unit to everyone who is looking for a user friendly GPS with a large screen. I wouldnt recommend trying to move it from car to car due to the size of the unit, but other then that I cant say you will be sorry if you buy this model. Hope this helps.

5 Stars Garmin 7200
I have been using a Garmin GPS III for 9 years now and find the screen to small to see both in the car and in the RV. We have used a computer with map software in the RV, but found the screen hard to see in the bright sun. I wanted a new GPS with a BIG screen and the ability to see it in the daylight, and simple enough the wife can operate it as we travel.

The Garmin STP 7200 meets all those reqirement, although it is a bit large when used in our car. We have been on a couple of trips with it now and found it to be accurate for the most part. It at least got us close enough to see the place we wanted. (I have yet to find any GPS mapping software that is 100% accurate.)

After purchaing the unit we found out about the downloadable POI (Points Of Interest) files that are available on the internet. They are a great addition to the built-in points of intetest.

Also after the last trip out, where we spent a hour sitting in a construction project, we discovered the “Detour” button that routes you around a traffic jam. All in all I am quite happy with the STP 7200 and wish I hadn’t waited so long to get one. It ought to be great on the next RV trip. For use only in a car I might consider a smaller unit.

You can load MP3 files and audio books and play them through the unit if desired, It would be nice if it would play video files as well. It does have video input capabilities, so I may get the cables and see if I can hook up my video iPod to play through it.

5 Stars Big screen
the streetpilot 7200 isn’t compatible with the cool things that garmin offers but that didn’t matter to me. I wanted something with a large screen that worked great. something with xm nav/radio and this unit was the best thing i found out there.

1 Star 5310 Customer Service is Crap on a Cracker
Sirs,

I recently purchased a 5310 GPS on 10/30/2008 at Costco for my HVAC business and I was shocked to learn the 5310 GPS unit with a production date of 10/01/2008 has a map that is from 2006/2007 and the update due in the first quarter of 2009 will cost $[...] more, and would not be provided for me at no cost, I learned this after speaking to your resolution specialists.

This is my second unit I also own a 4040, I did buy the upgrade for this unit 6 months ago.

Any reasonable person would expect to receive the latest software with a new unit, the Garmen units we own are provided with the most current software at NOCHARGE, so when I return this unit even though I like it because of its intuitive capability you have no one to blame but your poor customer service and unrealistic company policies.

So in closing I repeat the 5310 and their Customer Service is Crap on a Cracker

J.Holt

1 Star Brand New and Doesn’t Work
I bought a Magellan 5310 today. It will be going back to Costco tomorrow. When I set it up and pushed the On button, I got a screen about safety while driving. I then pushed OK and nothing happened. It would never go to another screen. Then when I tried to shut it off it stayed on.

Even with the power off of it, it won’t shut down. So, it’s back in the box with the screen lit up like the middle of day. That will surely wear the battery down to nothing. This is my second attempt at buying a GPS unit (previously I bought a Garmin and it gave me nothing but problems too). Obviously, the technology isn’t there to produce a product that is of value to consumers. It’s disappointing because my wife really needed it for a trip she’s taking tomorrow. But I’m not buying one ever again. After two tries, I’m not happy with this particular technology or the Magellan product. I really thought that buying top of the line this time would make a difference. It didn’t.

4 Stars Buyer Beware - Good GPS Though
I purchased this unit after evaluating several different vendors and models. It was exactly what I wanted however - PLEASE NOTE THE UNIT DOES NOT HAVE BLUETOOTH NOR VOICE COMMANDS. Amazon has yet to change the descriptions as someone else noted this months ago. The unit works well and I have done the free OS upgrade . Just be aware that Amazons prices fluctuate on this unit - I paid $380 and two days later it was $349 now it’s $352 so check often as they do not do price adjustments.

4 Stars my purchase
i first ordered freom another site. they just tryed to sell me items to go with my gps . i told them no i just wanted my gps. of course after that they were out of stock. amazon shipped the gps .i received it in a short time i am very happy with it bob

4 Stars Not Bad
I purchased this item and have been using it regularly, it tends to try to send me on some strange routes some times with many turns but when I had absolutely no idea where I was going it was usually fairly good.

Had a couple of addresses that were not located correctly and it sometimes does not know specific towns if they are too small.

Graphics are good, traffic alerts seem generally pointless to me and not usefull.

Unit does recalculate routes preety quickly and has been a lifeline on those side street for the most part.

Haven’t used any others so no comparison from me.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars An excellent product - and just in case - also excellent service
Until a week ago I owned the 2720. Unfortunately a map update failed and I had to send the unit to Garmin. The service folks from Garmin just sent me their latest streetpilot 2820 (free upgrade, just great). So, from being unhappy due to the failed update, I am now quite happy. Also, that took place within 4! work days. Dropped it off at the post office on Friday, got it back on Thursday moring the week after. Really quick.

It is a great unit, just like the predecessor 2720, but now also has bluetooth and an audio book reader and MP3 Player (things I will likely not use). Bluetooth is great, though, for mobile phones in cars even though you will need to connect a speaker and micro.

The unit does what it needs to do - get me where I want to go. Especially on a motorcycle. Waterprrof, with enough room to save half of the US and CAN (mine is a european unit).

I used the previous version for 3 years and never has it failed to get me where I wanted to go. It is fast, has excellent routing, is VERY easy to use, the screen is large and very easy to read even under unfavorable lighting conditions and as I said - support is great and is located in the US or Europe, exactly where you are. No call centers in inner Mongolia or other such nonsense. Whoever had to contact a call center other than in your own country knows what I am talking about. But you will likely not need tech support, since it just works reliably and every day.

If you need to have a unit for an MC this is the unit I would recommend. Even more so, since you can use it your car and on business trips, …

It does not come with a picture viewer, but that is useless from my point of view to begin with. The only drawback is the somewhat flacky reception of the GPS signal in difficult areas - namely skycrapers all over the place and narrow roads for example in Spain. Still I always arrived with minimum stress. Far better than what you would get built into cars at a far better price.

4 Stars Are we there yet?
Nice GPS and Great price - - - A huge leap forward from my previous unit (Street Pilot 111). Maps and directions update quickly with plenty of options. It comes ready to use -fully loaded. The Bluetooth connection (phone) works well, but I’ve had complaints of sounding distant. May need to try a different mic??? Can not comment on Sat radio as I did not add antenna.

5 Stars Excellent motorcycle GPS
After spending a few days researching GPS receivers that were good candidates for motorcycles I narrowed my list to the Garmin Zumo 550, Garmin StreetPilot 2820, and TomTom Rider.

Although the Zumo 550 seems to be the more popular choice lately, I decided upon the StreetPilot 2820 because it has more features (ex: multiple via points on a route and a higher resolution screen).

It is an excellent choice for a motorcycle –it can easily be operated with gloves on, it’s waterproof, it’s easy to read, and it can pair to two Bluetooth devices (in my case a Bluetooth helmet and my Blackberry).

The maps that come with this unit are outstanding –I can fairly reliably tell the difference between paved and unpaved roads (something you can’t do with Google Maps, for instance).

I have found one bug with the device: If you’re using the music player and attempt to voice dial a phone number, the Bluetooth connection gets flaky and I need to reboot the unit –I’m hoping a future firmware update will fix this issue. At least I’ve found a work around to this annoyance –if I manually pause the music and then make (and complete) the call and then unpause the music everything seems to work okay.

Garmin technical support while I was trying to diagnose this issue was outstanding.

I highly recommend this unit.

4 Stars Garmin 2820 Works well with Bluetooth
I bought this item several months ago and recently took it on a motorcycle trip to New England and Canada. I managed to hook it up with Bluetooth with my helmet and my cell phone which hung on my belt. Amazingly, it worked for cell phone calls going down the road in Toronto. The only drawback is that one needs to do a “reality check” for routes it may decide on. Some routes were out of the way or no longer in existence. A bonus was looking up the weather on areas I was planning to go to.

5 Stars Great for Motorcycle Touring… Loaded with features.. But a bit big
Going on my third season with the 2820, I can’t imagine touring without it. Easy to use with gloves, big enough to see without reading glasses, accurate guide, and more. The connectivity can’t be beat either, plus it is a very rough and tumble sturdy unit. I was very happy with the XM radio, and in the car I plug it into my auxiliary jack. I’m happy to report that there has not been one glitch or problem over 8,000 mile of bumpy twisties and harsh riding through the elements on my motorcycle. I had the Garmin Quest before upgrading to this unit. There is no comparison. The Quest was way too cumbersome in controls and directions and screen display to be very useful on while moving fast on the road, espically if you wanted to make changes to it on the fly. My only wish with this 2820 unit is that it wasn’t so big. You don’t want to leave an expensive unit like this on the bike when you stop, and, although it does fit in my jacket pocket, it’s very bulky. Overall, I have been very happy with this unit and highly recommend.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars spacious
holds pretty much everything for your GPS. the power cord, sd chips and even the suction mount will fit in here. its nice for road trips where you may not be in your own car….keeps everything in one place rather nicely

5 Stars The Perfect Case
This case is amazing. It has a pocket when you open it that is perfect size to hold a portable GPS unit. The best part is it comes with an LCD cleaning cloth that works extremely well even though I bought the screen protectors anyway (I highly suggest screen protectors for the touchscreen). It’s extremely rugged and the perfect size as it fits in my door perfectly for storage.

4 Stars Great case, great price
The only draw back is cramming-in all of the charging cords. Otherwise, the hard shell case is wonderful, it holds everything and the soft interior protects the screen. The strap is optional.

1 Star Too large
I was very disappointed in this case and returned it. It was much too long and couldn’t fit in my console compartment.
